youthworks

The Memorial YouthWorks program is a youth empowerment and community service initiative that engages our community's youth in mentoring, volunteering, and philanthropy. YouthWorks is a partnership between Memorial Hospital, The Memorial Foundation and local high schools and provides philanthropy education and fundraising opportunities to support Memorial's Children's Fund.

YouthWorks fundraising generates dollars for the following primary areas administered by The Memorial Foundation

  • Neonatal Intensive Care for Newborns
  • Trauma care for children
  • Pediatric physical therapy
  • Unintentional injury prevention and child passenger safety
  • Classroom health and safety education through Passport to Health®

YouthWorks High School Pageants

The YouthWorks High School Pageants are fundraising programs that help support children's healthcare in the Yakima Valley. Participating high schools organize a non-traditional pageant for boys. Contestants are judged in a number of categories, including creativity, faculty review, and individual fund raising. The school's contribution is a result of contestant fundraising, admission to the pageant, as well as other events held throughout the school year.

The program is a student run and organized philanthropy project to raise money and awareness for children with special health care needs. Since the funds stay local, the students see the positive effects of their efforts and walk away knowing that they can play a part in making their hometown a better place to live.

There are no tax dollars used to support this program. This program is funded by The Memorial Foundation and Children's Miracle Network local and national sponsors.

The success and enthusiasm of local high school students giving back to their community turns into an inspiring experience that allows students to work together for a common cause. TEENS CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE.
