On the cusp of 93, Naomi and her family faced the reality of her failing health. With the help of her primary care provider, the family was introduced to MultiCare Yakima Memorial Hospital’s Home Health and Hospice program, Compass Care.
“We initially had a lot of questions about Compass Care and what the role of hospice was,” Naomi’s grandson RC said. “Their team sat with our family and answered every question we came up with, putting our minds at ease and helping us understand how needed hospice was for our grandmother."
Keeping Naomi comfortable and meeting her needs at home, where they knew she wanted to be, was their top priority. The Home Health and Hospice team visited Naomi at home, overseeing her medical care and helping with everyday tasks like bathing and medication adjustments while spending time with Naomi and her family.
“The hospice team was so conscientious of the family involvement,” RC said. “They talked us through the end-of-life process and interacted with us just as much as they did her – they offered care and compassion to us all."
In Naomi’s final days, her family was at her side around the clock. They even got to celebrate her birthday a few weeks early, taking every opportunity to soak up time together.
Thank you for your unwavering generosity toward hospice. Your support of Compass Care empowers patients and their families with compassionate care as they navigate their journeys toward final goodbyes.
